Note: CACO (2025) and Tropicos (2025) place Corryocactus ayopayanus in a synonymy with Corryocactus melanotrichus, but POWO, Hassler (2025) and Hunt (2016) prefer its segregation. WS can not take sides in a taxonomic dispute and therefore this name has its own taxon page.
