Borrowed or mirrored from Russian насеко́мое (nasekómoje, “insect”), a calque of Latin īnsectum (“insected creature”). Technically a substantivized present passive participle of насе́ка (naséka, “to disect, to chop into pieces”) + -ом (-om) + -о (-o).
