Etymology
From Middle Persian ʾyd rʾy (ēd rāy, “on account of this, because”), the latter a lexicalization of the locative singular of Proto-Iranian *rād-, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *HraHdʰ-, from Proto-Indo-European *Hreh₁dʰ- (“to think, arrange, accomplish”).[1]
