  1. oyster omelette.

Usage notes

  • Despite the fact that the term etymologically contains a word that means "oyster", the term may, if crabmeat is used instead of oysters, just be suffixed with ปู (bpuu, crab) as ออส่วนปู (ɔɔ-sùuan-bpuu), which literally means "crab fried oyster". If a different kind of meat is used, a suffix may be added in the same manner, such as ออส่วนกุ้ง (ɔɔ-sùuan-gûng), from ออส่วน (ɔɔ-sùuan) + กุ้ง (gûng, shrimp), for one in which shrimps are used instead of oysters.
  • ออส่วน (ɔɔ-sùuan) typically has a more gooey texture, while หอยทอด (hɔ̌ɔi-tɔ̂ɔt) is usually drier and crispier.
