Phi-bô-na-xi
Vietnamese
Etymology
Italian Fibonacci. The Italian phoneme /tʃ/ is generally rendered as the Vietnamese letter ⟨x⟩ and phoneme /s/, as if the Italian letter ⟨c⟩ was supposed to be pronounced like a "soft c" in French. Compare Lê-ô-nác-đô đa Vin-xi (“Leonardo da Vinci”), Xi-xi-li-a (“Sicilia”). French also influences how German names are rendered in Vietnamese.
