Proto-Mongolic

Etymology

The *h- is confirmed by Eastern Yughur, Mongguor, and Baoan; it can presently not be explained as a case of secondary development. Could be a case of older *h- in some Qinghai-Gansu languages only. A rare case of disagreement between Baoan and Dongxiang.

Verb

*hunu-

  1. to ride on horseback, to mount
