Ter Walslage
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as ter walslaghe in 1446. Derived from an inflected form of te (“at”) and a compound of an unclear first element and Dutch Low Saxon lage (“low-lying area”). The first element in Walslage may be a personal name. It is unlikely to be wal (“levee, wall”) or the hapax legomenon Middle Dutch *wals (“foal”).
