Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *bleg ̊, from Proto-Indo-European *b(h)le- (“to bleat”). Cognate to Ancient Greek βληχάομαι (blēkháomai, “to bleat”).[1] Also compare Old Church Slavonic блѣꙗти (blějati, “bleat”), Old English blagettan, blǣgettan (“cry”). An onomatopoeic root, enlarged with the suffix -ëró/í-.
