Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *bleg ̊, from Proto-Indo-European *b(h)le- (to bleat). Cognate to Ancient Greek βληχάομαι (blēkháomai, to bleat).[1] Also compare Old Church Slavonic блѣꙗти (blějati, bleat), Old English blagettan, blǣgettan (cry). An onomatopoeic root, enlarged with the suffix -ëró/í-.
