Several medical dictionaries as of 2017 enter isthmectomy (isthm- +‎ -ectomy) and not isthmusectomy (isthmus +‎ -ectomy); the former word arose earlier (circa 1911 versus circa 1962), but the latter word has been in wider use since the mid-1970s.[1]
