Learned borrowing from Ancient Greek ὑπηρετῶ (hupēretô), from ὑπηρέτης (hupērétēs, “servant”) + -ω (-ō, verbal suffix), with semantic loan from French servir.[1] By surface analysis, υπηρέτης (ypirétis) + -ω (-o).
