Etymology

Inherited from Old Ruthenian вѣтръ (větr), from Old East Slavic вѣтръ (větrŭ), from Proto-Slavic *vě̀trъ. Cognate with Russian ве́тер (véter) and Ukrainian ві́тер (víter).
