Etymology

From *iŋgə- + *-ľə (adessive suffix). The и- (i-) stem may be from Proto-Uralic *e- (this) (compare e- in Finnish ennen (before)) or connected to Proto-Finno-Permic *eŋte. Cognate with Erzya икеле (ikele).
