Borrowed from Romanian leuștean, from Late Latin levisticum, from Latin ligusticum, from Ancient Greek λῐγῠστῐκόν (lĭgŭstĭkón, “bastard lovage”), from Λῐγῠστῐκός (Lĭgŭstĭkós, “Ligurian”). Compare Hungarian lestyán.
