Etymology
From Proto-Mordvinic *pəŕgə- ~ *piŕgə-, borrowed from Proto-Baltic *perkūnas (whence Latvian pērkuons and Lithuanian perkūnas). Finnish perkele and Estonian pergel borrowed from the same Baltic root.[1]
