The spelling with ס in place of שׂ is either borrowed or influenced by Aramaic. Compare native Hebrew שָׂרַט (sarát/śāraṭ, “to scratch, gash, cut”) and שָׂרֶטֶת (sarétet/śāréṭeṯ, “a scratch, gash, cut, abrasion”). Cognate with Arabic شَرِيط (šarīṭ).
