Etymology

Uncertain, but probably borrowed from Pashto جنتري (jantarī), from Hindustani جَنْتْرِی / जंतरी (jantrī) (used prior to the partition of India, now archaic), from Sanskrit यन्त्र (yantra). Doublet of جندره (jandara / jandare).
