Variant of the previous form ܦܝܵܠܵܐ (pyālā), from Ancient Greek φιάλη (phiálē, cup, bowl); compare also in Persian پیاله (piyâle) and Urdu پیالہ (pyāla). Doublet of ܦܝܼܠܵܣܵܐ (pīlāsā, bowl).
