Etymology 2

Possibly derived from Sanskrit कृत (kṛta), through a Prakrit form like Sauraseni 𑀓𑀤 (kada). Turner instead proposes an etymology from Old Punjabi ਸੰਦਾ (sandā, genitive postposition), from Sanskrit सन्तक (santaka, belong to). Compare Hindi का ().
