Etymology 1
From Proto-Lolo-Burmese *ʔtsukᴴ, from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *tsuk ~ tsik. Cognates include Tibetan རྩིག (rtsig, “wall”), as well as perhaps Old Chinese 築 (OC *tuɡ, “to build, pound earth”), 造 (OC *skʰuːɡs, *sɡuːʔ, “to create”) (STEDT).
