ပွေး
Burmese
Etymology
The "mole" sense is derived by STEDT from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *bwəj (“(bamboo) rat”), which has been further linked by others to *b-jəw-n ~ bwəj (“rabbit, rat”). Compare Tibetan བྱི་བ (byi ba, “mouse”).
The "ringworm" sense is grouped with the "mole" sense by MED, but implicitly separated by STEDT, which leaves the origin open (pwê "ringworm"), and the word is not mentioned by Luce 1981 either.
