Burmese

Etymology

From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *lum (to be warm). Cognate with Lolopo lexl (to dry in the sun), Tedim Chin lum (warm), Drung leum (warm, hot), S'gaw Karen လၢၤ (luh̄, warm) and Naxi lvq (warm).

The "take shelter" sense is grouped with the "bask" sense by MED, and it seems feasible that the former is a semantic extension of the latter ("to bask" > "find a place to warm oneself" > "find shelter").
