Etymology
Borrowed from Pali seṭṭhi (“treasurer”), from Sanskrit श्रेष्ठीन् (śreṣṭhīn); see श्रेष्ठ (śréṣṭha, “most splendid”) for more. Indigenized as သူ- (su-, “-er”) + ဌေး (hte:, “wealthy”). Doublet of ချစ်တီး (hkyacti:).
