ဟု

Etymology 1
Cognate with Bwe Karen hú, Pa'o Karen ဟူ (hù). Luce (1985) suggests that ဟု may be borrowed from Austroasiatic, probably from a descendant of Proto-Austroasiatic *srɔ(ː)ʔ; compare, for example, Mon သွံ (“paddy”).
