Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Austroasiatic *ɓakʔ (to carry on back/slung). Cognate with Mang ɓak⁷, Eastern Bru ʔa.bak, Bahnar tơʼbăk, Vietnamese mắc, with meanings ranging from "to hang", "to wear around the neck", "to carry on the shoulder/back", to "to support".
