ときめく
Japanese
Pronunciation
Etymology 1
Compound of とき (toki) + めく (-meku, “looking like, behaving like, becoming like”, verb-forming suffix).[1][2][3] The derivation of the toki element is unclear. It might be cognate with the doki element in adverb どきどき (dokidoki, “throbbingly, beatingly, poundingly”) in reference to one's heart.
Verb
ときめく • (tokimeku) intransitive godan (stem ときめき (tokimeki), past ときめいた (tokimeita))
