Usage notes

  • Used since the end of the 2010s by Japanese new-age and QAnon supporters who claim that 私 is a post-war GHQ (American) conspiracy to disable the Japanese people, and that 和多志 (literally “Yamato numerous will”) is the traditional orthography.
  • 氣(き) (ki), subject of the same conspiracy, where the 米(こめ) (kome, “rice”) component is said to be deliberately replaced with a cross mark in the simplified form: 気(き) (ki)
