Etymology
Compound of 飾り (kazari, “decorating; decoration”, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 飾る (kazaru, “to decorate”)) + 棚 (tana, “shelf, shelving”).[1][2] The tana changes to dana as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
