     Qíjì huáliú, yīrì ér chí qiānlǐ, bǔ shǔ bùrú lílíshēng, yán shūjì yě. [Pinyin]

     The (horses) Qi-ji and Hua-liu could in one day gallop 1000 li, but for catching rats they were not equal to a wild dog or a weasel - the gifts of creatures are different.

     麒驥驊騮は古の良馬也。一日の内に千里を馳す。しかれども鼠を捕ことは狸狌にはをとる也。

     Qiji and Hualiu are fine horses in ancient times. They are able to gallop one thousand li in a single day. Nevertheless they are inferior to stray cats in catching rats.
