麻甩

"crude; unrefined; uncouth"

Folk etymology links this word to French malade (“ill, sick”), supposedly used by Belgian missionary doctors to describe their patients, but this is unlikely.^[1] It is more likely a semantic extension from the "sparrow" sense.^[2]

     He himself isn't a crude man, so he never thought girls who are a little bit crude are anything special. Maybe because growing up, he had too many crude girls around him, and things are more valuable when they are rare, so he didn't ever think this sort of girl is anything rare.
