First attested in the Yeogeo yuhae (譯語類解 / 역어유해), 1690, as Early Modern Korean 눈살 (Yale: nwunsal). 눈 (nun, “eye”) + -ㅅ- (-s-) + 살 (sal, “wrinkle”).
