왔다리 갔다리
Korean
Etymology
From Japanese 行ったり来たり (ittari kitari, “back and forth”, literally “going and coming”), but with the Japanese verb stems replaced by Korean 오다 (oda, “to come”) and 가다 (gada, “to go”). The past tense forms with -었- (-eot-) were chosen to better match the Japanese pronunciation.
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [wa̠t̚t͈a̠ɾi ka̠t̚t͈a̠ɾi]
- Phonetic hangul: [왇따리 갇따리]
