๐ท๐ด๐ธ๐พ๐
Gothic
Etymology
Pokorny derives it from Proto-Indo-European *kot- (โdwelling spaceโ), comparing words such as Proto-Germanic *kutฤ (โshed, hut, stallโ), Old Norse kytja (โsmall cottageโ), Ancient Greek ฮบฮฟฯฯฮปฮท (kotรบlฤ, โcup, pintโ); however, the relation and origin of all of these words is unclear. Also compare the cognates listed at Proto-Slavic *kotัcั (โcottage, paddockโ).
