-올시다
Korean
Etymology
From -오- (-o-, humble suffix) + Early Modern Korean -로쇠다 (-lwoswoyta). The final part is ultimately from Middle Korean -로〮소〮ᅌᅵ다〮 (-lwóswóngìtá), a combination of Middle Korean suffixes -롯〮- (-lwós-, emotive suffix) + -ᄋᆞ〮ᅌᅵ- (-óngì-, politeness suffix) + 다〮 (tá, declarative suffix).
A more polite version of -ㄹ세 (-lse). Compare the pairs -읍시다 (-eupsida) - -세 (-se), -습니다 (-seumnida) - -네 (-ne).
