Alternative forms
- -tme (variant of the suffix in words ending with -t in partitive)
- -tmet
- -dmö/-tmö, -dmöt/-tmöt (archaic and/or dialectal)
Etymology
From earlier -dmöt, -dmö, from merging -d (partitive suffix) + möto (posposition), which in turn derives from Proto-Finnic *möötä.
Suffix
-dme
- Case suffix used to form the prolative case; along (something)
Usage notes
- Takes the form -tme if the word in partitve ends with -t, e.g.:
- When several words in the sentence require the case, -me is appended to the last one (though in folklore text and formal speech all words can take it):
- Mänen levedadme tehutme = Mänen levedad tehutme — "I'm going along the wide road"
