- Deutlichkeit (“clarity”) + -halber → deutlichkeitshalber (“for clarity”)
- Beispiel (“example”) + -halber → beispielshalber (“to give an example”)
- Höflichkeit (“courtesy”) + -halber → höflichkeitshalber (“for the sake of courtesy”)
Usage notes
- The noun tends to take a linking -s before the suffix.
- Per se, this suffix has unlimited productivity in contemporary German, meaning that such adverbs can be formed from any noun defining a quality. However, some of these formations would not be considered standard usage.
