   ‎Höflichkeit (“courtesy”) + ‎-halber → ‎höflichkeitshalber (“for the sake of courtesy”)

• The noun tends to take a linking -s before the suffix.
• Per se, this suffix has unlimited productivity in contemporary German, meaning that such adverbs can be formed from any noun defining a quality. However, some of these formations would not be considered standard usage.
