Dokkum
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as tochingen in 802-822. Potentially derived from the dative plural form of Old Frisian Dokko (a personal name) suffixed with the collectivising suffix -ingi- or, alternatively, from dokke (“type of plant, dock”). Compare Docking.
