Forest of Lyme
English
Etymology
Perhaps ultimately from Proto-Celtic *limos (“elm”). However, note the objections of Coates (2003), who argued for a derivation from, via Proto-Brythonic, Latin līmes (“boundary”).
Proper noun
- A forest and geographical area of Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, England, roughly centred on the modern-day Potteries.
