Mamelis
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as mamelmes in 1243. Potentially derived from Gallo-Roman Latin *Mamilo (a personal name) suffixed with -acum. An alternative etymology proposes a derivation from *Mamilo and mansum (“farmstead, homestead”).
See also Central Franconian Mameles.
