Etymology
Possibly a compound of OpenB@Chin-PalmBack-OpenB@CenterChesthigh-PalmUp OpenB@Palm-PalmUp-OpenB@CenterChesthigh-PalmUp (“good”) and the formal pronoun OpenB@SternumHigh-PalmUp OpenB@Trunkhigh-PalmUp (“you, he, she”), thus meaning literally, “you, sir (or madam), are good”.
Production
- This one-handed ASL sign is produced as follows:
- Posture the dominant hand in the “open B” handshape at the chin, dominant palm facing back.
- Move the hand forward and down to the following posture.
- Posture the dominant hand in the “open B” handshape several inches from the chin, dominant palm facing up.

Inflection
- In the final posture of the sign, the hand is extended out toward the object (the recipient of the thanks).
