Habitational, perhaps from Pinkhurst in Slinfold or Pinkhurst Farm in Abinger, from Old English pinca (finch) or a personal name derived from it + hyrst (hillock copse). Alternatively perhaps from Pankhurst (Surrey), of obscure origin.[1]
