Habitational, perhaps from Pinkhurst in Slinfold or Pinkhurst Farm in Abinger, from Old English pinca (“finch”) or a personal name derived from it + hyrst (“hillock copse”). Alternatively perhaps from Pankhurst (Surrey), of obscure origin.[1]
