Plankendorp
Dutch
Etymology
Attested as Plankendorp in 1936. Compound of the plural form of plank (“plank, wooden board”) and dorp (“village, settlement”). Named for the fact that the first houses of the settlement were constructed out of planks, as well as to contrast with nearby Stroodorp. Compare Planketent.
