Reconstruction:Proto-Basque/euskala
Proto-Basque
Etymology
The ending very likely corresponds to the modern suffix -era. The first element is obscure, but has been traditionally linked to Auscī, the Latin name of an Aquitanian tribe. Another hypothesis links it to an unattested verb *enautsi (“to say”).[1]
Noun
*euskala
