Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *delh₁- (“to carve, split”) (the laryngeal of which Matasović fails to notate), whence also Latin dolō (“to hew, fashion”), Lithuanian dalýti (“to divide”), and Albanian dalloj (“to cut”).[1]
