Proto-Celtic

Etymology

Cognate with *mālos (praise). Possibly related to Proto-Indo-European *meldʰ- (Proto-West Germanic *melþōn (inform), Proto-Slavic *modliti (ask, pray), Old Armenian մաղթեմ (małtʻem, implore, pray)), though the loss of the is problematic.
