Etymology

Uncertain. Possibly from Proto-Finno-Permic *jimä, although no certain cognates have been put forward; possibly related to Northern Sami amiidit, while Komi-Zyrian [script needed] (jumol) is unlikely to be related due to phonological difficulties.
