Etymology

Possibly an early loan from Indo-European language, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *(H)albʰós, relying on the assertion that an initial Indo-European laryngeal could be reflected as a *k- when borrowed into Uralic or Finnic languages, which has been disputed.
