Proto-Finnic

Etymology

Unknown. Possibly derived from a root *tajë-, whence also Finnish taipua (to bend; to change; to be possible), but the semantics make this unlikely; Finnish taju is probably derived from *taitadak rather than both from a common root.

Verb

*taitadak (stem *taita-)[1]

  1. to know (how)
    Synonym: *osait'ak
