Reconstruction notes

With some uncertainty, but apparently in the Proto-Vainakh the glottal stop from the numeral *dHiwʔ (four) was generalized to this numeral (also to *ši (two), *qo (three) and *pxi (five)), and consequently the word form *cħaʔ was obtained. Starostin and Nikolaev suggest that the glottal stop led to the assimilatory development of the wordform in Ingush. However, apparently, a metathesis of *cħaʔ to *cʔaħ occurred, due to which the *-ħ after the vowel acquired a voicing, that is, it turned to *-ʕ, and the glottal stop after *c- was lost.
