Etymology

Suffix

*-anikъ m

  1. From verbs in a-conjugation, predominantly forms agent nouns.
*posъlati (to send an envoy) + ‎*-anikъ → ‎*posъlanikъ (envoy)
    *pomazati (to anoint) + ‎*-anikъ → ‎*pomazanikъ (anointed person)
