From Proto-Balto-Slavic *dráugībāˀ, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰrewgʰ-. Morphologically from *drugъ + *-ьba. Cognate with Latvian draudzība (friendship) (with g > dz via palatalization), Lithuanian draugybė (friendship).
